Troop 390 Announcements
4/24/2011

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Welcome back from Easter Break!  We sure hope everyone had a special time
with family over the last 10 days.

Our next Troop event is helping the Knights of Columbus at St. Monica Parish
by distributing Tootsie Rolls after the Masses at church this week-end.  We would like to
have 2 – 3 adults, and 6 – 8 youth at each Mass.  It is perfectly acceptable to help
distribute Tootsie Rolls after attending Mass, and to come back to a different Mass to help
out again!  We wouldn’t mind if somebody wants to help out at all 3 Masses!

Please reply by e-mail to let me know which Mass or Masses you can help.
Parents, please also let me know if you’ll be able to supervise.  The entire event is finished
10 - 15 minutes or less after Mass is over.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing everyone this coming week-end at Mass!

3/13/2011

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Our next Troop meeting is tomorrow night, March 14, at 7 p.m. in Donovan Hall.
Please note the starting time, which we are returning to now that the basketball season has
concluded.

We will continue to work on First Class requirements and make plans for several merit
badge clinics.

Please remember that this Saturday morning we will be distributing bags for Scouting for
Food. We will meet in the St. Monica Parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and should be finished by
11 a.m.  We will be covering the same territory as last year, so we really need all the help
we can get, both from the boys and from parents who can drive.

Thanks, and we’ll see everyone tomorrow night.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

2/27/2011

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Our next Troop meeting will be tomorrow night, February 28, at 7:30 in Donovan Hall.
We will be working on advancement requirements up through First Class.  This meeting
will be especially helpful for all of the Troop members who are not yet First Class, and for
those who are who will be conducting parts of the training.

A BIG thanks to all of the boys who helped with the Pack 390 Blue & Gold dinner this
past week.  We had a great turn-out from our 6th-grade Scouts, and a couple of 9th-
graders also.  And thanks to Mr. Chandler and Pencak for pitching in to help supervise the
boys.

Congratulations are also in order for the 4 members of the Troop who were elected to
the Order of the Arrow:  Andy C., Chris K., Erik L., and Will M-O.  These boys should
watch their mail for information from the Council office about their times to take the next
step in the Order of the Arrow.

Please also note several upcoming events:

 1.  Saturday, March 5th, there will be a joint Junior Leader Training meeting with Troop
400 at the Whitefish Bay United Methodist Church on Silver Spring.  The program runs
from 9:30 until about 1.  Lunch is provided.  We will have more information and a sign-up
sheet at Monday night's meeting.  All Troop members who have not gone through Junior
Leader Training are strongly encouraged to attend.  We also would like at least one of our
Assistant Scoutmasters to attend with our boys.  The cost is $6 and includes program
materials and lunch.

 2.  Saturday March 19th is the Scouting for Food Bag distribution day.  We need all the
help we can get, both from the boys who will be distributing bags, and from parents who
can drive.  We again have a very large area that will need many people to help with.

 3.  Saturday March 26th is the bag pick-up for Scouting for Food.  Just as we need help
for the bag distribution, we will also need help with the pick-ups.

NOTE:  once the 6th Grade basketball season ends we will go back to our normal
meeting starting time of 7 p.m. on Monday evenings.

Please call with any questions.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Pack 390 is holding its annual Blue & Gold Dinner on Thursday February 24 at 6 p.m. in
Donovan Hall.  We are asking all members of the Troop to help with serving dinner to the
Cub Scouts and their families, and then to also help with the Carnival afterwards.  Boys
who help will be welcome to join the Pack for dinner.

Please let me know whether you will be able to help.  We can also use several parents to
help supervise the boys.  I will be there at 6, but will need to leave by 7 to get to another
function.

Thanks, and please either call, or reply "yes," "maybe" or "no" whether you can help.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

2/12/2011

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Just a quick reminder that we will have our next Troop meeting Monday evening, February
14, at 7:30 in Donovan Hall.  Once again, this is a very important meeting, as we will be
having our Summer Camp Kick-Off, and our elections for the Order of the Arrow.  So
attendance is really important.  All members of the OA should wear their sashes.

Don't forget to put the dates of Summer Camp on your calendar -- Saturday July 23 -
Saturday July 30.  Camp is at LeFeber Northwoods Camp, near Laona, Wisconsin.  We
will have more details Monday night, including schedules.  But be sure to set aside that
week -- it's the best week of most boys' years!

We'll see everyone Monday night.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

PS, Congratulations to both of our Patrols for doing so well at the Klondike Derby last
week-end.  A huge thanks to the dads who led the way:  Jim Gomez; Jim Kachelski; Pete
Loehr; and Mike Pencak.

12/5/2010

Klondike permission slip is posted on the Activities Page

12/2/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Just a quick reminder about Sunday's Court of Honor.
Date:  Sunday, December 5
Time:  5 p.m.
Place: Donovan Hall

Troop members should wear their full uniform to the Court of Honor.

All Troop members are invited, along with the entire family.  We will have pizza and salad
after the Court of Honor, and will be finished by 6:30.  There is no cost to this event.  We
are happy to provide dinner as a "Thank You" to the boys for their hard work in the
Wreath Sale, as well as to all the parents who have helped out in the past.

If you haven't done so already, please RSVP so we know how much food to order.

Also, in light of the expected snow this week-end, we will have to postpone the hike that
we were hoping to take on Sunday.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

PS, if any Troop member wants to serve as the Master of Ceremonies (which fulfills a
requirement for Communications Merit Badge, please let me know)

11/20-2010
Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Our next Troop meeting is tomorrow night, Monday November 22.  Due to Basketball
practice, we will start the meeting at 7:30 to help out the 6th graders.

We need all Troop members to turn in their Wreath Sale collections at the meeting.

The next event after Thanksgiving is the Court of Honor and Pizza Party on Sunday,
December 5.  Watch your e-mail for details, but for now we need to know how many
people will be attending.  All Troop members, plus their parents and families, are invited.
There is no cost, and we are happy to provide pizza and salad to thank everyone for
another successful Wreath Sale.  All we ask is that each family please bring a dessert to
share.

Please RSVP how many from your family will be attending on the 5th.  We probably will
start at 5 or 6.  Since it is a Court of Honor, all Troop members should be in full uniform.

Thanks, and we'll see everyone at the next Troop meeting.

10/10/2010
Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We will have our next Troop meeting Monday, October 11, at 7 p.m. in Donovan Hall.
We will be working with the newer Scouts on their requirements for rank advancements
towards First Class, so it is a very important meeting for all of these boys who are not yet
First Class.

All of the older Scouts should also attend to assist in teaching the First Class skills.

We will not be able to participate in the Polaris District Fall Camporee the week-end of
October 15 - 17 due to insufficient attendance.

However the Kohler-Andrae Campout, on October 22 - 24, is very much on!  Please
confirm your attendance to Mr. Herbers.

Finally, please continue selling Christmas wreaths.  This is our only fund-raiser during the
year, and we need to replenish the Troop's account after buying 8 new tents this fall.  Boys
who come camping with us to Kohler-Andrae can use one of the new tents and see for
themselves how nice they are.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

10/3/2010
Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We need to know how many boys and parents plan to attend the Polaris District Fall
Camporee at Camp Quad (near Erin, Wisconsin -- Holy Hill area) the weekend of
October 15 - 22.  Cost is $20 per boy.

Please reply by e-mail "Yes", "No" or "Not sure" so we can inform the Scout Office.

Also, please keep the following weekend, of October 22 - 24 open for our Troop's camp-
out to Kohler-Andrae State Park near Sheboygan.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

9/12/2010
Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We kick off our Scouting Year tomorrow evening, Monday September 13, at 7 p.m. in
Donovan Hall with our first meeting of the year.  We will h and out the Troop's calendar
for the year and talk about all of the exciting events we have planned for the year, including
the advancement workshops where we will be helping the boys advance in rank towards
First Class, and then further with merit badge clinics.  All Troop members should attend, in
uniform.

A big thanks to Mr. Jim Gomez and Mr. Mike Pencak for spear-heading the Cub Scout
Pack 390 Picnic and camp-out in the Grove on Saturday night the 11th.  The weather
cooperated and everyone had a great time.  Several members of the Troop also camped
out, earning them another night of camping towards their First Class rank, and towards
Camping Merit Badge.

Also, we will hold our Troop elections on the evening of September 27th, so all of the
boys should think about what Troop positions they would like to hold during the upcoming
year.  We will talk about what the Troop positions are at our next meeting so everyone can
be ready for the elections 2 weeks later.

Finally, don't forget to put the Kohler-Andrae Camp-out on your calendars.  We are
heading to Kohler-Andrae in Sheboygan on Friday, October 22 for the week-end.  This is
always one of the highlights of the Scouting year.

We'll see you tomorrow evening.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

PS, if any Troop members who attended Jamboree have any merit badge slips from
Jamboree that have not yet been turned in to me or the Scout Office, please bring them to
the meeting so we can get them processed with the Scout Office.

9/7/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

This Saturday evening, September 11, Pack 390 is having its picnic and camp-out in the
Grove.  Troop 390 has volunteered to help the Pack with games for the Cub Scouts.
Also, all Troop members are encouraged to camp overnight in the Grove.  The Troop has
new tents that it has purchased from Jamboree that will be available for use by the boys.
Here's your chance to see what a Jamboree Tent looks and feels like.

We need to let Cubmaster Jim Gomez know by Thursday if you are planning on attending
the picnic and/or the campout.  The campout is a great way for boys to work on rank
advancements since we'll cover many of the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class
requirements.  Also, everyone should invite a friend along to join us at the picnic, and even
to camp out with us.  This will satisfy the "recruiting" requirement for First Class.

Please let me know as soon as you can, but no later than Thursday.  There is no cost for
this event.  Parents are welcome at the picnic, and for the camp-out.  The weather should
be great for nice, Autumn camping.

Scoutmaster John Herbers

8/22/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Our next meeting will be Monday night, August 23, at 7 p.m. in Donovan Hall.  This is a
special, non-uniform event.  We will be clearing out and re-organizing the Scout Room to
get all of our equipment ready for another year of Scouting.

Our Troop bought 8 of the tents from Jamboree, and so we need to make room for these
tents and sort through the equipment we have to make sure we have what we need.  All
Troop equipment that has not yet been returned should be brought back on the 23rd.

Next, please help us, and St. Monica Parish, this coming Saturday August 28 at 1 p.m. to
set up tables and chairs for the Parish festival.  Troop 390 has been helping in this way for
many years and we are always happy to be able to give back to the Parish which sponsors
and supports us all year long.  Please reply to let us know how many people we can count
on for help.

Please watch your e-mails for the Troop's calendar for the upcoming year.  We have
tentatively scheduled events already, but need to coordinate with the Council's, and the
Polaris District's calendar also.

Here are several events to put on your calendars already:

Saturday, either September 4 or 11, Camp-out in the Grove at St. Monica's.  We will help
Pack 390 with its picnic and games, and boys are encouraged to camp out in the Grove.
Troop members should invite a friend along to camp with us and check out how much fun
we have with the Troop.  Inviting a friend will meet the First Class requirement of
"recruiting" a friend to Scouting.

Monday, September 13, Troop meeting and Troop elections for the upcoming year.  All
boys should consider what leadership positions they would like to hold in the Troop.
Leadership positions are required for advancement beyond First Class.

Friday - Sunday, October 22 - 24, Kohler-Andrae Camp-out.

Friday - Sunday, February 4 - 6, 2011, Klondike Camp-out.

Saturday - Saturday, July 23 - 30, 2011, LeFeber Summer Camp.

We are scheduling bike trips, hikes, canoe trips and other camp-outs throughout the year.
Any parent who would like to help plan an event should contact Scoutmaster John
Herbers.  We can use all the help we can get.

Call or e-mail with questions.

John Herbers

PS, please reply whether you can or can't help set up tables and chairs Saturday at 1.  The
job shouldn't last more than an hour.

6/7/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

Please remember that tomorrow night, June 7, we have a special event.

Join us for a special program on falconry and joint meeting of the three Whitefish Bay Boy
Scout Troops, 390, 398, 400.

Date:      Monday, June 7, 2010

Time:      7:00 p.m.

Location:  Whitefish Bay Middle School, Old Gym (or outside, weather permitting)

Our featured event is a demonstration of falconry by Air Force Cadet Ryan Wichman.
Ryan, a former Boy Scout, graduated from Greenfield HS in 2007, and is now attending
the Air Force Academy.  One of his duties is to train and care for the school mascot, the
falcon.  Ryan will be in Milwaukee in June with the falcon for to meet with organizations
and schools to explain the falconry program.  Because he was a Boy Scout, he specifically
asked to present the program at Boy Scout meetings.

We’re also excited that, as far as we know, this is the first time all three Whitefish Bay
troops have gotten together for a joint meeting – it’s great to do this in Scouting’s
centennial year.  The SPL’s of the three troops got together to plan the meeting.  Thanks to
SPL Richard H., for coordinating that meeting.

All boys should be in uniform to mark this special meeting.

Thanks, and we'll see everyone tomorrow night.

5/22/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We will have our regular Troop meeting Monday evening, May 24, at 7 p.m. in Donovan
Hall.

This is an extremely important meeting for all Troop members, and most especially for
those boys who will attend Summer Camp.

We will be filling out merit badge cards to pre-register boys for their merit badge classs at
Summer Camp.  Without pre-registration, the boys may not be able to get into the merit
badge classes they want.

Also, we need all boys and adults who plan to spend time at Summer Camp to turn in their
medical forms.  There is a link to the forms on the troop's website, www.troop390.com,
on the "Forms" page.  The link is:

http://troop390.com/Forms/AnnualHealthandMedicalRecord.pdf

These medical forms must be submitted by July 1 so we can make necessary copies for
our files and have them ready for Summer Camp.

There is still room for more boys to sign up for Summer Camp, but we'll need the
registration forms and payment by Monday to make sure we can get everything in place.

5/9/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents:

1.  Next Troop meeting is tomorrow night, May 10, 7 p.m. in Donovan Hall.  All Scouts
should return any Troop equipment, especially tents, that they have.

2.  Special Troop meeting June 7.  On Monday evening, June 7, the 3 Troops in Whitefish
Bay will hold a joint meeting.  A special guest will be at the meeting.  The guest is a cadet
at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He will have the
USAFA's mascot, a falcon, with him.  More details will follow.  However, we need to
know about how many Troop members and parents will plan to attend so we have enough
room for all 3 Troops, guests, and the falcon!

3.  Welcome to new Troop member Joe J., who joined us at our Greenbush camp-out and
hike.  Great to have you in the Troop, Joe!

If any Troop members know any of their friends who might want to join, please encourage
them to come to a meeting and check us out.  It's not too late to join the Troop and come
to Summer Camp in July.  See below for information about Summer Camp.

4.  Congratulations to Troop members Richard H., Eddie P., and Joe S. who became
Brotherhood members of Mikano Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.  Also, congratulations
to Troop member Michael C. who became an Ordeal member of the Lodge.  These boys
join the ranks of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's national honor society promoting
camping, and exemplify "cheerful service" in their Scouting.

5.  Summer Camp reservations are still being taken.  We have 5 boys signed up to go to
LeFeber Northwoods Camp from Saturday, July 17 - July 24.  Cost is $245 and the more
boys who go, the merrier!  Thanks to Mr. Mike Pencak and Mr. Jim Gomez for
volunteering to lead the Troop at Summer Camp while Scoutmaster John Herbers is at the
Boy Scout National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia.

6.  White-water rafting trip cancelled.  We unfortunately have to cancel the whitewater
rafting trip that was scheduled for next week-end due to conflicts.  If the boys are
interested, we could put together a bike trip or hike for either Saturday or Sunday.  We
will discuss at the Troop meeting tomorrow night.

4/29/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We have volunteered to help out with the annual Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll
distribution this week-end at all of the Masses at St. Monica's.  Troop 390 has been
helping the Knights of Columbus for many years as they raise funds for mentally challenged
children and adults in our community.

Many of our Troop members will be at a Jamboree camp-out all week-end and so are
unavailable to help.  We need all other members of the Troop to help out for at least 1 of
the Masses this week-end.  You are welcome to distribute Tootsie-Rolls at 2 or even 3
Masses if you want!

Anyone who can help should meet in the back of Church right after Communion to get a
smock, Tootsie Rolls, and instructions.  Boys are busy for maybe 15 - 20 minutes at the
end of each Mass, and it's a big help.

Please look for Mr. Gomez, or Mr. Pencak or one of the other Troop leaders in the back
of church.

Thanks a lot for serving St. Monica's, the Knights of Columbus, and all the people they
serve.

4/11/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

We hope everyone had a great Easter break.

1.  Greenbush Camp-out and Hike.  Our next Troop meeting is Monday, April 12.
Assistant Scoutmasters Gomez and Pencak will work with the boys to get ready for the
camp-out next weekend.

Attached is a parent information sheet about the camp-out.  Please call Scoutmaster
Herbers with any questions.

We are still able to accomodate more boys who might want to attend the Greenbush camp-
out and hike, but have not signed up yet.  This camp-out and 5-mile hike is a great outing
for new Scouts since we will be working on many of the Tenderfoot, Second Class and
First Class requirements over the course of the week-end.  The camp-out is also very
helpful for older Scouts who want to teach skills to the younger Scouts and earn
requirements for their own advancement.  The cost of the week-end is $20 and sign-up
sheets will be available at the meeting tomorrow night.  We will need the sign-ups Monday
at the latest since we will be shopping for the food Tuesday night.

2.  Coin Collecting Merit Badge Clinic.  Any of the boys who wants to take the Coin
Collecting Merit Badge Clinic on Saturday, May 1, should let Scoutmaster Herbers know
right away so he can sign them up.  There is a newspaper article that must be reviewed
before the Clinic, and Mr. Herbers will provide a copy to all the boys who are attending
the Coin Collecting Merit Badge Clinic.  This is a great merit badge especially for younger
Scouts to work on.

3.  Summer Camp!  Finally, we are still looking for Summer Camp reservations.  The dates
are July 17 - 24.  We can still qualify for the lowest sign-up cost ($220) if you let me know
today (Sunday April 11); reservations received the 12th or later will have a $25 late fee
(charged by the Scout Office).

Thanks, and call with questions.

3/21/2010

Troop 390 Members and Parents,

1.  A huge "Thanks" to all of the boys and parents who helped distribute bags for the
Scouting for Food "Good Turn" yesterday.  Helpers included Ed Chandler, Paul
Christensen, Scott Dobak, Pat Dragani, Jim Gomez, Dave Marshall and Gabe Martinez-
Ortiz.  We had 9 boys who helped run the bags around, so thanks to them also.

We will need helpers this coming Saturday, the 27th, to pick up the bags in the same area
that we dropped them off in.  It's a big area, so we can really use a lot of help with drivers.
We'll meet at the school parking lot at 8:30 again on Saturday morning and go from there.

2.  Our next regular Troop meeting is a week from tomorrow night, the 29th, at 7 p.m. in
Donovan Hall.

3.  All of the boys who are working on the Ad Altare Dei award have a meeting tomorrow
night, Monday the 22nd, at 6:30 with Fr. Jerry.  And they have a day of reflection, service
project and group Mass on Saturday the 27th.  Religious Awards counselor Paul
Christensen has contacted all of the boys who are working on this award directly with
details.

4.  Our next 2 Troop outings include a camp-out and 5-mile hike at Greenbush from
Friday, April 16 - Sunday the 18th.  This is a great event for all of the newer Scouts since
we will be working on many of the requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First
Class during the week-end.  It is also helpful for the older boys who are working on the
Communications Merit Badge which is an Eagle-required badge.  We only have a couple
of boys signed up for this event so far.  We need to get the reservations in by the meeting
on March 29 or we'll have to cancel.  The cost is $20/boy.  Adults are not charged.

Also, we have a whitewater rafting trip planned on the Peshtigo River on Saturday, May
15.  Jon Lehrman has invited us to camp at his cottage in Mountain, Wisconsin (just 20
minutes away) overnight on either or both of Friday and Saturday nights.  We need to
know how many boys are planning on attending so we can reserve enough rafting slots
with Kosir's and give Dr. Lehrman enough advanced notice for his own planning.  We will
need a good head-count for the rafting trip by March 29 so we can get our reservations
in.  The cost is $50/person (Kosir's charges all rafters, so we do too).

5.  Knights of Columbus Tootsie-Roll hand-out.  The week-end of May 1 - 2, the Knights
of Columbus has asked us to help distribute Tootsie-Rolls as part of its annual fund-raiser.
We need 5-6 boys to help out after each of the 5 p.m., 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Masses
those days.  Please put this event on your calendars.

6.  Summer Camp.  Finally, Summer Camp is less than 4 months away.  We go to
LeFeber Northwoods Camp in Laona, Wisconsin from Saturday July 17 - 24.  All boys
who want to attend should get their reservation forms in by the March 29 meeting so that
they can get the "early bird" price of $220.  After that the cost goes up by $25 since the
Council raises the price in April (and again in June).  Adults are not charged for their time
at Summer Camp.  Parents are extremely welcome to join the Troop for all or any part of
the week.  Make your plans now!

3/15/2010
Just a quick note to remind you about tomorrow night's Troop 390 meeting - 7 p.m. in
Donovan Hall.  See you then.

Also, a big thanks to everyone who helped at the Fish Fry.

And we really need lots of help for Saturday's Scouting for Food bag distribution.  We will
meet at 8:30 Saturday morning at St. Monica parking lot and go from there.

3/6/2010
Several quick notes:

1.  We'd like to welcome two new members of our Troop, Ben D. and Theo K.  Both are
in 5th Grade, and we hope to have 3-4 more of the 5th graders join our Troop soon.

2.  Our next event is a Service Opportunity this coming Friday from 5 - 7, when the Parish
Fish Fry is happening.  We have been asked to serve food, and bus tables.  All members
of the Troop are asked to help out.  This is a non-uniform event.  Please let me know if
you can help.  Parents are also welcome.

3.  Saturday, March 20 and March 27 is Scouting for Food.  Scouting for Food is the
largest single-day food drive in the country, and in Milwaukee we are hoping to collect 200
tons of food to distribute to Second Harvest of Wisconsin.  We really need help on the
20th to distribute the bags.  We will meet at St. Monica parking lot at 8:30 both mornings.
We need parents to drive, and boys to help pass out the bags on the 20th.  Please let me
know which days you can help.  The more drivers and boys we have, the quicker the work
will go.

4.  All boys who would like to work on the Coin Collecting Merit Badge can get the
information about the Coin Collecting Merit Badge Clinic.  This clinic will be held
Saturday, May 1, at the Midwest Airlines Center downtown.  This merit badge is a great
one for newer Scouts to earn early in their career.  We will post information about the
Clinic on the Troop's website, or you can go to the Council's website, www.mccbsa.org,
to get more details.

5.  We have camp-outs in April and May.  Sign-up sheets are available at all Troop
meetings, or on the Troop's website,
www.troop390.com/activities.htm.

6.  Don't forget Summer Camp, from Saturday July 17 - Saturday July 24.  The
sign-up
form is also on the Troop's website.

7.  Next Troop meeting is Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in Donovan Hall.  See you there!

Please reply to let us know if you will:

2/10/2010
Klondike is a Big Success!  We had a great time at the Polaris District Vista Klondike this
past week-end.  Six of our Troop members and three 5th Grade Webelos spent the week-
end at Camp Vista and did very well on the Yukon Trail.  We also had one fourth-grade
Webelo join us for the day.  Great to see Javier M-O!

The boys also participated in the Snow Snake Competition and Sled Race, taking 3rd
place in the sled race.  It was a great time.  Special thanks go to Assistant Scoutmaster
Mike Pencak who drove both ways and spent the week-end with us, and Assistant
Scoutmaster Gabriel Martinez-Ortiz who came up for the day on Saturday.  Also special
thanks to Jim Gomez and Jim Kachelski who brought their sons along for the week-end.
And thanks to Mr. Ed Chandler for driving up and back on Friday with a load of boys and
gear!

Our next meeting is Monday night, February 15.  This is an extremely important meeting,
and all Troop members should make an extra effort to attend.  We will have our Summer
Camp Kick-off when we start making plans for Summer Camp this year.  We will also
hold our Order of the Arrow Election for new candidates to be elected to Mikano Lodge
of the Order of the Arrow.  All members of Mikano Lodge should attend and wear their
OA sashes.

Also, 5th-grade Webelos should attend the meeting if they can, to begin learning about
Summer Camp.

Summer Camp will run from Saturday July 17 - Saturday July 24, and will be held at
LeFeber Northwoods Camp near Laona, Wisconsin.  Members of our Troop who will be
attending Jamboree can spend a day or two at Summer Camp if they wish (and if they can
arrange transportation) before they return to Milwaukee and head off to the Jamboree on
July 21.  More details will be provided at our meeting on the 15th.

Last note:  Pack 390 is holding its Blue and Gold Dinner on Thursday evening, February

We will have a regular Troop Meeting Monday evening, January 18.  This
is the first of 2 meetings to prepare for Klondike.  We need all troop
members to attend.

If you haven't turned in your reservation form, please do so
immediately.  We are at risk of not having enough boys to secure the chapel
basement for our Troop.  We will have extra forms available at the meeting,
and they are also on the Troop's web-site.  A huge thanks to Assistant
Scoutmaster Robert Jacobson for getting the web-site back up and running
again.

Also, don't forget the Parish's Spaghetti Dinner, on January 31.
Helpers will be very welcome.

Troop 390 Members and Parents:

We will have our January outing at West Town Archery this coming Saturday, January 9,
at 1:15 for an hour of archery shooting.  No experience required.  Cost is $5/person.
Parents are also welcome to join us, and to shoot.

The 5th Grade Webelos are also invited to join us if they'd like.  The equipment at West
Town is appropriate for boys as young as 10 or 11.

West Town Archery is located at 6795 West Burleigh.  See you there!

Please send back your forms for the Klondike outing on February 5 - 7 right away.  As of
now, we only have 5 boys signed up and need more if we are going to be able to use the
Chapel basement for our sleeping area.,
